Gabrielle Henry, Miss Jamaica Universe, made her first post regarding what happened to her during the pageant.
For several weeks, Henry's health generated great uncertainty after the spectacular fall she suffered during one of the beauty pageant's runway shows. The model fell off the stage, which led to her being immediately removed from the venue and taken to a medical center, where she remained in intensive care due to the complexity of the fall. By profession a doctor, she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke.
"In a moment that demands tranquility and healing, I am grateful to be in Jamaica and feel the strength of the Jamaican family surrounding me. I sincerely thank my family and friends, for every prayer that my Jamaican countrymen have made for me, and for those who accompanied me in difficult moments. In time, I will share more," the statement reads.
"Thank you for organizing my reception at these airports," she said. Likewise, she acknowledged that this accident has allowed her to reflect on her life while she recovers at home, with the support of her family, friends, and doctors: "As Miss Jamaica Universe 2025 and an ophthalmology resident, I remember that moments of darkness do not diminish vision; they refine it. While I continue to recover, I am inspired by the way Jamaicans rise, without being discouraged, after adversity. Thank you."
On social media, people have left messages celebrating her recovery and her return to her country.
"I am deeply grateful to the medical teams that treated me in Thailand, the team that accompanied me home, and the airport staff, including those at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) and Miami International Airport (MIA), and the members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, who helped reduce the stress of the journey. For now, my focus continues to be on healing, purpose, and service. The light persists."
